Map the story

Today I was learning about Captain James Cook,his ship crew and other people.This was very challenging because we had to make a map of where the people are and a table about where they are, what can they see and what they can hear as well.My next steps are to finish in time.To be completed.

Times zones

Do you ever wonder what time it is in different countries?Well,here is why there are different times in the world.

We all know what longitude and latitude is right.Well,there are 24 imaginary lines going vertical which means that there are 24 different time zones in every unique country.

Most countries fit in only 1 time zone so that means it is the same time in those countries and New Zealand is one of those countries. Between 2 of the lines near the bottom of the earth.

Big countries like Australia don´t just fit into one line,Australia is actually divided into 3 different time zones.Eastern,central and western time.

Lets use london as an example:New Zealand is exactly 12 hours ahead of london.In britian their clocks work differently.Are just exact 1 hour ahead.

The reason why New Zealand has no more than one time zone is because New Zealand just fits perfectly between one line so that means that we are also one of the countries that has one time zone so that means we are lucky.

Longitude and latitude

Today I learnt about why longitude and latitude are important.Here are 2 questions about why it is important.My next steps are to get as much information done.

1. Why is it important to identify a location?

Why?It is really important to be able to identify where you are so when you or people get lost you will be able to know where you are or where the person´s exact coordinates.How will it help?It will help you so when you have no map,compass or gps you can know where you are or what the coordinates are?

2.What situations require greater accuracy than others?

What?The best situation this could be helpful in is camping.Lets say I went camping and I got lost but know what the coordinates are.Choose 1 of these options and comment what the answers are and why.A.Call for help.B.Call for help and tell them the coordinates.or C.Build a camp and rest.
